After a last minute-victory against Dubuque on Wednesday, the Linn-Mar Lions have advanced to the Iowa state boys basketball class 4A semifinals.
The Lions won 51-50.
They'll be playing against Iowa City West — ranked second in the state and still undefeated — today at 3:15 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. West defeated Waukee 74-52 on Wednesday.
According to Des Moines Register sports reporter Chris Cuellar, there's one clear route for victory for the Lions: the performance of Linn-Mar senior and star player, Marcus Paige.
"Offensively, Linn-Mar struggled with the length the Rams jammed inside the arc, and West offers a different variety of that. Paige will have penetrate the lane more consistently, with his teammates making shots for the Lions to return to the championship game," he wrote.
