Cedar Rapids Police: Burglar Cuts Head Off Cat

The Cedar Rapids Police department have said that nothing has been taken in a burglary in Cedar Rapids, but a cat that lived in the residence was decapitated.

A burglar not only broke into a vacant home in Cedar Rapids, but police say the alleged criminal also lopped the head off a harmless cat.

A police spokesperson told the Gazette that the cat owner's friend found the lifeless feline on a bedroom floor Wednesday afternoon, at the site of the incident, 316 11th Street NW.

Even stranger, police said nothing seemed to be missing from the house.

But there was a strange message written on the wall that police say they're withholding for now because it may help them in the ensuing investigation.

"It wasn’t satanic or a hate crime or anything like that," Sgt. Christy Hamblin, the Cedar Rapids Police spokesperson, told the Gazette.
