Marion: Where do You Work Out?
With all the amenities that Marion has to offer, where do you go when you need a workout?
Whether you're a health nut or you have excess stress to work off, Marion has plenty of places to build muscles and reduce stress.
If you want to do so outdoors, the Marion Parks Department has trails and an outdoor pool to offer. If you're not the determined, rain or shine type, we also have indoor facilities including the YMCA of Marion, Curves and Anytime Fitness.
This begs the question: which is best?
This is where you come in. We are holding a contest to determine Marion's favorite place to break a sweat, so I am counting on you to voice your opinion as to which is best.
The poll began this morning, Monday, Feb. 27, at 5 a.m., and will close at 9 a.m., Friday March 9. The winner will get a "Best of Marion Patch" certificate to put on display.
This is the first of several Best of Marion Patch contests in which we will ask you to vote for your favorite businesses in various categories. Because the poll below is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner.
The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch. If you want your voice heard, click on the links below and rate the businesses, in addition to casting your vote.
The locations in the "Best Place to Work Out in Marion Patch" are:
YMCA of Marion, 3100 10th Avenue
The M.A.C. XPRESS, 917 Barrington Parkway
Anytime Fitness, 1101 7th Avenue
Curves, 1119 7th Avenue
Marion Parks and Recreation Department (trails and outdoor pool)
If we've missed one of your favorite workout spots, let us know and we'll add it.

We have just moved to Marion from West Des Moines. We belonged to a fitness center and had trainers. The center had an arthritic pool that so warm and I loved using it. But I can't find that kind of pool in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area. Is there such a thing here?
