Randi Shannon Drops out of District 34 Iowa Senate Race

The Republican candidate for Iowa's District 34 State Senate has announced that she's dropped out of the race.

Randi Shannon, the Republican Challenger to Liz Mathis in the upcoming Iowa State Senate District 34 election, announced today that she's dropping out of the race.

Shannon, who also had been keeping a blog on Marion Patch, this morning outlined her reasons for resigning her candidacy in a four-page email, which is attached below.

Wow! I must have missed Randi's "election," unless said election only happened in her head, or because she was appointed, absent any kind of people's consent, by the sponsors of the secessionist website she cited.

Randi has renounced her allegiance to the following: Abraham Lincoln's Herculean, successful efforts to save the United Sates from secessionist treason; the Emancipation Proclamation and the abolition of chattel slavery; the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments to the constitution, which abolished slavery, prohibited states from abridging our rights as United States citizens, and prohibited the states from denying the right to vote based on race, and; the direct election of US Senators and the enfanchisement of women.

Remember, Randi, that the "property" which your group claimed was "seized" were emancipated slaves, and that the Fourteenth Amendment did not "enslave" the American people, but protects them from unjust, arbitrary state laws. As for the Linn County GOP, why did you folks fail to do your due diligence before nominating a woman who would have been at home in the antebellum Democrat Party!?

It's time for the Dems to reinstutute the HUAC. This insurrectionist crap is getting out of hand. If we can send the Commies to prison under the Smith Act, we can send these baggers to prison for the exact same things.

Having personally read McVeigh's old BBS rants as background for a book I'm writing about right wing insurrectionist groups, I can tell you, that she sounds identical in beliefs and what she has been taught. You can tell how deep she is into it just from the wording, punctuation, and capitalization in her manifesto screed. She has been viewing some of the "Prophecy Club" videos, among other resources, and it is plainly evident to anyone who has researched the insurrectionist literature and teachings.

Even more scary are the ideas these insurrectionist homeschoolers are filling their children's heads with. I for one am going to buy some guns as a result of this. I'm a progressive, and that makes me one of their targets. I plan to shoot back.

interesting ties to Florida. I wonder if she was hanging out at that White Supremacist terrorist training camp that was busted last month a stone's throw from Disneyworld?

The more and more I read about people involved with such things, the more and more I agree with domestic go-ahead for NSA and CIA. The HUAC originally went after the right because it was getting out of hand, then it went after the left because it got out of hand, but the right went a bit overboard and soured people on the idea of it. It's time again for the pendulum to swing. We need a Democrat controlled HUAC. We don't want a repeat of the Oral Hatch BJ of the insurrectionists (the 1995 hearings, read them at thomas).

How deep is Van der Plaats involved with these people, I'm just watching the associations going on here. The Speaker? Pearson? etc...

No wonder she's against regulation.

Republicans seem to have a vetting problem, either that or the ones doing the vetting need to be before a HUAC as well.

interesting how she claims to have been beat up by her husband, but then becomes part of this Terrorist group...

"The next sovereign to die in a confrontation with law enforcement was one of RuSA’s own. William Foust, a prominent businessman in Page, Ariz., and a RuSA “ambassador,” was shot and killed on June 20, 2011, by a police officer responding to a domestic violence complaint. According to the police report, Foust lunged for the officer’s Taser. But within the echo chamber of the sovereign underground, the story was spun to paint Foust as the first victim in the coming confrontation with Washington — the target of federal assassins, Turner claimed."
