Marion Hazardous Weather Alert: Don't Let This Warm Weather Fool You

Iowa weather is notorious for its inconsistencies. So, a Sunday ice storm, a Monday night thunderstorm and then a snow storm Tuesday night is perfectly normal, right?

Good, because that's how this week's weather is shaping up.

As temperatures dropped Tuesday evening, snowfall was expected to increase throughout the state overnight. A winter storm watch for Linn County will continue through this afternoon.

Snowfall totals could be as high as three to seven inches across the state, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a winter storm watch for Linn County, starting Tuesday evening and lasting through Wednesday afternoon.

Snowfall will combine with strong winds and may lead to hazardous conditions Tuesday evening. The Weather Service also warned initially warm temperatures could lead to snow freezing into ice on roadways as the temperature drops. The windchill could be as low as minus 8 degrees.
