Plus, the Urbandale Citigroup office received drugs in the mail, Waukee students chose to spend their spring break learning, and an Iowa City woman facing drug charges once told police the cocaine found in her house was baking soda used for toothpaste.

A West Des Moines urology clinic’s March Madness-themed advertising campaign aims to nudge men into undergoing a vasectomy. The clinic's ad touts a great benefit: “Your excuse to stay on the couch and watch the games,” the announcer cajoles in an ad for The Iowa Clinic. Clinic urologists perform more vasectomies in March than at other times of the year.

This winter has been weird by starting late and hanging on into spring. The Des Moines metro is vying against Minneapolis in the Weather Channel's own version of March Madness and Ankeny Patch is looking for your votes. In honor of the NCAA Basketball Tournament, weather.com picked 64 cities, placing them in four regions. Spring break weirdness. This is weird only because more than 100 Waukee , for their spring break. They chose to learn about the nation's capital, visit museums and place a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The transition from winter to spring leads to an upsing in motorcycle accidents. The leftover salt, sand and loose gravel on roads before the street sweepers pass through can send motorcycles off course, said Marty Owings, an insurance agent in Marion. so drivers beware.

We lead off the weekly weird items from police reports with a Citigroup employee at the Urbandale office who found marijuana inside an envelope when checking a company post-office box. Police said the name on the envelope wasn't recognized in the office and the address for the illegal delivery was likely incorrect.

Cedar Falls Police say  He was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his hand and the investigation continues. The incident happened at B & B West, a convenience store.

In Iowa City, Charnise Lashon McCambry was arrested for drug charges following a traffic stop when a K-9 unit found a brown clutch in her vehicle with 63 grams of crack cocaine in it, according to police records. What's weird is that in 2011 during a drug raid she told officers that the cocaine they found in her apartment was actually baking soda that she used to brush her teeth. Officers later field-tested the substance which returned a positive for cocaine.
