50 Artists Expected, Lots of Good Food and 'Come-As-You-Are' Culture at 2013 Marion Arts Festival

Organizers are finishing the final touches for th 2013 Marion Arts Festival later this month.

"Enjoy free, family friendly, come-as-you-are culture!" the group says.

Mark your calendars. The date is Saturday, May 18 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in City Square Park. This is the 21st annual arts festival. The event draws from throughout the state and region and has earned national recognition.

Art Fair Source Book, “The Definitive Guide to the Best Juried Arts and Craft Fairs in the United States” (www.artfairsourcebook.com) has named Marion Arts Festival the #1 one-day event in the country and best festival featuring 100 artists or fewer in the United States for 2013.

Consistently ranked among AFSB’s top tier of juried events, the MAF is considered alongside 600 festivals nationwide, and is the only festival in Iowa named among the publication’s Top 50 events for 2013.

2013 will feature 50 visual artists from around the country, hands-on art experiences, specialty food vendors and a fundraising half marathon and 5K.

From 2D mixed media to sculpture and wood, the festival’s slate of 50 juried exhibitors will offer one-of-a-kind pieces of fine art and fine craft. Hailing from 15 states and Canada, 2013’s exhibitors were selected from 348 applications, representing 31 states, Canada, Israel and the UK.
