Marion Park Featuring Art of Cedar Rapids Man

Artwork from Cedar Rapids artist Fred Hardiman will be on display at Lowe Park until Jan. 6.

and the Marion Arts Council are hosting a brand new exhibit: "Faces of Man and Nature."

The exhibit is devoted to Cedar Rapids artist Fred Hardiman, a commercial artist for Rockwell Collins who has composed a wide variety of styles and forms of artwork in his spare time.

Dennis Frevert, the chair of the Marion Arts Council said he got to know Hardiman as a co-worker at Rockwell Collins. Frevert said  he admired the diversity of his many painting styles and his 3-D pieces, calling the sum total of his works "high quality."

The collection will be around until January 6. Frevert said exhibits typically last from six to eight weeks.

The Marion Arts Council has an application process for artists wishing to put their works up for display. Frevert said the council has already approved the artists following Hardiman's exhibit, which will be various art teaching instructors and their students from area colleges.
