Today is Last Chance to View Work By New Artists at Lowe Park

Student artists from Coe College and Mount Mercy submitted their art to this month's gallery at Lowe Park, in many cases their first time being on display, but the exhibit will be closed after today.

Dennis Frevert said the cycling exhibits at Lowe Park were created to promote local art and artists.

The president of the Marion Arts Council added that the current exhibit of local student artwork is not only doing that, but is also helping to develop local artists who may have never have had a public display of their work.

"We need to see young artists excited about getting their work displayed," he said.

For the remainder of the weekend, you can see dozens of pieces of artwork from all 25 student artists.

All of the artists on display are studying at Coe College and Mount Mercy University.

Frevert said it isn't obvious to viewers that the work was done by students, which he said is a testament to the quality of their work.

However the work won't be on display for much longer. It will be removed this weekend and replaced later this month with an exhibit of pastel artists.

Lowe Park is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
