Weather Alert: Eastern Iowa (Expired)

We have this alert from the National Weather Service.

Severe weather could be on the horizon today.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several Eastern Iowa counties, including Black Hawk, Linn and Johnson.

The thunderstorm watch is in effect until 5 p.m., today (Saturday).

Also, for 10 counties, including Linn and Johnson, NWS has issued a special weather statement.

"LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS...SOME STRONG WITH GUSTY WINDS AND LOCALLY TORRENTIALLY HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED THROUGH 1 PM."

This can include wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour, penny sized hail and more than 2 inches of rain per hour. The line of storms is supposed to pass from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.
