Art at Lowe Park - July offerings by the Marion Arts Council

The Marion Arts Council promotes the importance of the arts and develops programs that maximize public awareness of art, artists, and culture. The following programs are scheduled for the month of July at the Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center, 4500 North 10th Street in Marion.

In The Gallery:

The visual art exhibit in the gallery at the Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center during July is Profound Interpretations. It features the works of two successful local artists, John Paul Schafer from Cedar Rapids and John Klopp from Mt. Vernon. The exhibit will be on display through August 10. The gallery is open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Workshop:

Learn about the history of sand painting and then create your own unique work of art. Sand painting is a Native American art form with an interesting history. Well-known artist David Garrison will lead a daylong workshop on Saturday, July 27 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Lowe Park Arts and Environment Center. Anyone 12 and over is invited to participate in this workshop. The cost is $30, which includes all materials. Pre-registration is required by calling 377-4846.
