Marion, Here Comes Some Steam With the Heat

The area has seen near record-high temperatures all week.

Those of you thinking of going out Saturday for St. Patrick’s Day and to watch the NCAA tournament might want to bring an umbrella just in
case.

According to the National Weather Service’s website, the warm, near record high temperatures that we have seen all week will continue today into the weekend, with a high of 79 predicted for this afternoon and 78
degrees Saturday. This continues the warm trend on unseasonably high
temperatures (for March) we have seen this week.

However, with that warmth comes the chance of some rain. The National Weather Service forecasts a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms both today and Saturday, with a south wind of 10 to 15 mph.

That chance of rain is expected to linger into Sunday and the start of the work week Monday, with high temperatures cooling off slightly into the low 70s and eventually into the 60s by Wednesday.
