Weather Service Warns of Heat Index in the Triple Digits

The National Weather Service has warned the public about two very, very hot days this week.

Summer has been here for a week, officially.

Though the weather hasn't seen a huge change since then, it's clear to me, a guy who writes regular weather reports, that the occasional terrible weather we are seeing is moving from warnings of horrible thunderstorms to ridiculous heat.

Which offers a clear transition to the very meaning of this post: The National Weather Service has announced a hazardous weather outlook, as the heat index will rise to around 100 degrees for two days this week.

Thursday and Friday will be officially hot, with heat index scores of over 100. That's so hot, I'd like to spell it with two Ts, but I am forbidden to do so by journalistic code.

During these days, it's important to be safe and not to overexpose yourself to the heat. For the most part, walking around shouldn't be a big deal for most of us, but for you people who run and bike to keep your body in impeccable shape, you might want to read this New York Times guide to avoiding a heat stroke.
