There's no reason for you to have a Google Alert set for "Marion, Iowa," but I do.

The Sexual Abuse Trial for Marion resident Aaron Winebrenner has been set for Feb. 9, according to Eastern Iowa News Now. Winebrenner has been accused of sexually assaulting a girl around 50 times. He is currently in the Linn County Jail in lieu of a $105,000 bond.

Syncbank, a Marion Company, introduced a "disrputive new technology" at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, according to Silicon Prairie news. The company unveiled its mobile application that uses a broadband Internet connection to bypass the use of cable or satellite systems used to view television.

Last week's opening day for the 2012 Iowa legislative session was kicked off by a Marion native, Pastor Darin Whiting of Liberty Baptist Church in Marion, according to a story from Oskaloosa News.

Marion Resident Betty Johnson received the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Achievement Award last Monday in Des Moines, for her work with the Body and Soul cancer treatment program in Iowa.
