On Friday, November 18 the Society lost a good friend, Tony Rajer, who died suddenly while visiting friends in Marion. Tony orchestrated the move and restoration of the Center's fresco, "Communication by Mail."
The fresco, painted by artist Dan Rhodes in 1939, is one of three works in Iowa done by Rhodes as part of the New Deal program. Tony was a frequent visitor to the area working on murals in Cedar Rapids and Mt. Vernon.
The Society hosted a remembrance service at the Heritage Center on November 23 when many personal memories and anecdotes were shared. Tony was a unique personality and he will be missed by many. We hope that you will stop in and see this special work at the .
