New Permanent Display Unveiled in Marion

Step back to the 1960s when the trains ran through downtown Marion. This model railroad display is the newest permanent display at the Marion Heritage Center.

The Tales from the Rails, Marion in Minature permanent exhibit is now open.  The 7' x 14' layout, located on the second floor of the Heritage Center, was designed and built by railroad modeler Darren Ferreter and depicts Marion as it looked in the mid 1960's. This HO (1/87) scale model represents the city from Highway 13 to Lindale Drive.

Stop in and step back in time when passenger and freight trains ran through downtown Marion and you could have breakfast at Ole's Ham and Egger. A great way to experience Marion's history for all ages!
