Remember When Iowa Was Too Crazy to Matter?

The GOP presidential nominees now include only the top four finishers in the Iowa caucuses.

Iowans must be getting used to it now: The griping that comes with the state's presidential caucuses, the griping that says placing so much importance on the votes of so few people skews the nominating process and lets "the crazies" take over the party.

Worse than that are the grumblings that Iowa's caucuses are irrelevant.

Well, guess what Rest of the World: The Iowa caucuses matter, and "the crazies" here got it right.

How relevant are Iowa's caucuses? Is the conservative Christian movement in the Republican Party to stay? Tell us in comments.

The proof is in the remaining GOP field. It's down to four candidates – the four top finishers in January's Iowa vote. That would be Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and, yes, still, Ron Paul.

Santorum took Mississippi and Alabama in their votes yesterday, after polls showed him behind Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich in both states.

Remember when Santorum had no chance in Iowa? Remember when people believed Iowa was too crazy to matter?

You'd have to be crazy to still believe that.

As an Iowan who attended all the candidates’ speeches, in person, I feel as if the mainstream media grossly represented Ron Paul. They even had to go as far as saying we didn't matter and that we were crazy! Well, I don't think that the radical republicans deserve to have him as the party’s candidate. He is the only conservative with a plan. The problem I see is that many people fear what that they do not understand and the only reason people do not understand Ron Paul is because he has been demonized by the mainstream media. If Ron Paul ran on a third party ticket he could easily get 2% of the popular vote and possibly form a new party! A ‘party for the people’- a ‘liberty party’ or an ‘anyone but them party’! The GOP wants the same ole lame O'- they want Big Brother Santorum in our bedrooms; they want Flip Flop Fascist Romney, and Newt the New World Order advocate. They want WWIII. They have been using us to bomb people for so long that they know no other way of life.
