Car Crash Injures Marion Woman, Cedar Rapids Teen

From Linn County Sheriff's:

On Monday at 1:46 p.m., Linn County Sheriff’s Deputies and Linn County Sheriff’s Rescue along with the West Bertram Fire Department and Area Ambulance Service, responded to a single vehicle personal injury accident in the 4500 block of Otis Road SE. The initial report had the occupants of the vehicle trapped.

Upon emergency personnel’s arrival they found a vehicle in the ditch at that location but the occupants were not trapped. The driver of the vehicle, 19 year old Rebeca J. McCorkle of Marion IA., had been driving east bound on Otis Road when she appears to have lost control of her vehicle and went into the south ditch. Also in the vehicle was 15 year old Ashley Dyer of Cedar Rapids IA. Both Ms. McCorkle and Ms. Dyer were transported to St Lukes Hospital for what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.

They also appear to have been wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.
Ms. McCorkle was given a citation for failure to maintain control.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
