Linn-Mar Football Still Has Chance At Postseason

Despite losing the first three games of the season, the Linn-Mar Lions still have a shot at getting into the postseason.

I'm going to come right out and say it: I missed some news last Friday.

Because I'm not the sporting type — as my frame only allows for heavy eating and light reading — I didn't put two and two together to realize that Linn-Mar still has a shot at the postseason.

K.J. Pilcher, a reporter for the Gazette who is much more worldly in the way of sports, pointed out that because Linn-Mar has two wins in the last three weeks they still have a chance at postseason games.

If you remember, the Linn-Mar Lions won the Sept. 28 game against Dubuque-Wahlert by a whopping 43 points and toppled Cedar Rapids Washington two weeks before by a slightly less whopping margin of three points, 24-21.

Because the team lost the first three games of the season it remains to be seen if the Lion's qualification for the postseason will end in victory.

But it seems as though quarterback Rhys Davis at least understands that.

"We all know what is at stake," Davis said to KCRG. "Everybody knows we need to come out and execute and keep moving forward."

The Lions will play their homecoming game Friday night against Cedar Rapids Prairie.
