A Marion man was cited with having a vicious, dangerous or bothersome animal.

A Cedar Rapids man has been cited after his dog - listed in police reports as a pit bull mix - charged officers and bit at two people in Marion.

Lonny Lee McMurrin, 28, of Cedar Rapids, was charged with having a vicious, dangerous or bothersome animal, at 179 14th St., during the week of Oct. 25 to Nov. 1.

Neighbors reported three dogs running loose and "acting aggressive," Marion police Sgt. Lance Miller said. The police report listed one of dogs as "a pit bull mix," and that dog took action towards people leading to the citation, Miller said.

"The animal bit at two people tearing their clothing and twice charged officers that were responding to the call, hence the citation for vicious animal," Miller said.

He did not have any other information about the incident, other than that custody of the dog was transferred to the Cedar Rapids animal shelter. The dog remains at the shelter.
