Police: Teen Thwarts Kidnapping Attempt in Marion

A 15-year-old girl managed to escape an abduction attempt in Marion on Wednesday afternoon, police say.

A teenager managed to escape a kidnapping attempt in Marion on Wednesday afternoon by kicking and screaming, police said.

They are looking for three men they say are responsible.

Marion Police said in a statement that a 15-year-old girl, who is not identified, was walking in the area of Fifth Avenue and 20th Street in Marion when she was approached by three dark skinned black men in their early 20s. The men were in in a newer black four-door vehicle.

Police said that two of the men exited the vehicle, grabbed the girl and attempted to put her into the vehicle. The girl began to kick and scream, which caused the men to release her and take off, police said. She was not injured.
