Marion Police Arrest 24 Juveniles in 7-Day Span

24 juveniles were arrested in numerous different incidents and for different offenses over a seven-day period earlier this month.

Marion police made a rash of juvenile arrests this month.

Police arrested 24 juveniles in a seven-day span. The arrests were part of several different incidents and for a range of offenses, including assault, disorderly conduct, theft and drugs between Nov. 7 and Nov. 14.

Three boys, two from Independence and one from Winthrop, were arrested for fifth-degree theft as part of the same incident around 7 p.m. on Nov. 7 in the Marion Walmart. The suspects were aged 15, 16 and 17.

Patch does not typically name minors charged with arrest.

A 16-year-old Marion boy was arrested on an unspecified warrant at 3:35 p.m. on Nov. 7 at  1568 Fifth Ave.

Two 17-year-old Marion boys were arrested for disorderly conduct at 9 a.m. on Nov. 8 at Linn-Mar High School.

A 12-year-old Marion boy was charged with reckless use of fire or explosive at 1:09 p.m. on Nov. 8 at 3000 Sixth Street.

Six girls and one boy from Marion and Cedar Rapids were arrested for disorderly conduct in the same incident at 7 p.m. on Nov. 9 at Elza Park, 1645 Fifth St. Two of the girls were also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

The teens were aged 13 to 17.

On Nov. 10, a 17-year-old Marion boy was arrested on two charges for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at 9:52 p.m. on Nov. 10 at 3500 29th Ave.

Police charged a 17-year-old boy with assault without intent to injure at 8:33 p.m. on Nov. 11 at 1220 Terrace St.

Four teens between the ages of 14 and 17 from Marion and Cedar Rapids were arrested as part of the same incident. Two face third-degree burglary charges, including a 14-year-old Marion girl. All four were charged with interference with official acts. The arrests occurred at 2:05 p.m. on Nov. 12 at 230 Third Ave. 

A 13-year-old Marion girl was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia at 2:29 p.m. on Nov. 12 at 1350 Fourth Ave.

Police arrested a 17-year-old Marion boy on an unspecified warrant at 8:38 p.m. on Nov. 13 at 3911 Katz Drive.

A 14-year-old girl from Vinton was arrested for assault at 3 p.m. on Nov. 14 at 11th Street and Fifth Avenue.

The final arrest in the span was a 15-year-old Marion boy for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a drug paraphernalia at 6:09 p.m. at 3030 Fifth St.
