18 Construction Projects in Marion Including Lowe Park Amphitheater

Marion Patch received an update on closed roads and construction from the Marion City Engineer.

Marion has approximately 18-full blown construction projects going on right now, according to a report from the Marion City Engineer.

That includes the Central Corridor Project, the 2012 Sidewalk Inspection Project, and the beginnings of the Amphitheatre, among many others.

So, the million dollar question is: Where can I drive in Marion?

South 11th Street Reconstruction Project – Phase II

Businesses remain open so please make the extra effort to get there. The last project segment at F Avenue/Westview Drive intersection is now closed for reconstruction and restricts traffic from the north and south on 11th Street. South/East bound traffic will need to use the 1st Avenue signed detour and Westview Drive traffic will need to come up 11th Street from the south. 11th Street from Grand Avenue to F Avenue is open to local traffic. 

Blairs Ferry Road Utility Project

Ferry Road between Lindale Drive and Marion Boulevard for ITC Midwest. Short term lane closures will continue to pop up for the next couple of weeks.

Central Corridor Reconstruction Project – Phase I

Businesses remain open so please make the extra effort to get there.

The contractor continues to work between 10th Street and 12th Street completing pavement, walks, lane striping, and the park wall. The contractor has now opened the 10th Street intersection and closed the west half of the 12th Street intersection.

Tower Terrace Improvement Project – Phase III

Alburnett Road remains closed north of 33rd Avenue at the future intersection of Tower Terrace Road. Tower Terrace Road from Alburnett Road to 10th Street is open and serves as the detour for Alburnett Road traffic north and south of the closure. Access south bound from Tower Terrace Road will be restricted for about a week.
