Lange, Braley, Spar over Gifts from Lobbyists

GOP candidate Ben Lange accuses opponent and 1st Congressional District Rep. Bruce Braley of accepted $1.4 million from lobbyists. Braley's camp responds calling it "fuzzy math."

The Republican challenging our district's U.S. Representative, Bruce Braley, has accused the Braley of taking $1.4 million from lobbyists.

A senior adviser for Braley told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier that the challenger — Republican candidate Ben Lange — was incorrect, and Braley received only $70,000 from a registered lobbyist.

Still, political bickering ensued.

Braley's campaign official accused Lange of having "fuzzy math." Lange said that regardless of the dollar amount, Braley was not following through with his campaign promise by accepting money from lobbyists.

The Braley campaign fought back by asserting that Braley's promise was not a personal promise to refuse contributions from lobbyist, but to prevent lobbyist from giving contributions to members of congress.

Stay tuned to Patch for updates on the ongoing race for seat.

Lange creeped me out in 2010. He still does.

What are the best "green" solutions for weed control?
Willie Wellington April 18, 2013 at 02:08 am
Hi Beth. My name is Willie Wellington and I own/operate Insite Lawn Care and Landscaping. We haveRead More used green products for over seven years now and recommend these solutions for you. The best 'green' solutions are using corn gluten as a preemergent right now. As for post-emergent control - look for a horticultural grade vinegar (10-20% acetic acid) and apply it on a warm sunny day. It is nonselective - meaning it will kill or damage anything that you spray it on. You can also find some people using a product called the Green Guardian. It is an all natural post-emergent and fertilizer. Please remember that natural products take longer than chemical products but can produce better results in the long run while also being better for the environment.
