Randi Shannon's GOP Replacement to Be Nominated Soon

The Linn County GOP will be holding a meeting to nominate a replacement in Marion's Iowa State Senate District 34.

When Randi Shannon of the Iowa State Senate District 34 race, she left the Linn County GOP without a candidate to oppose incumbent Liz Mathis.

But at a meeting of the Linn County Republican Party next Monday, party members will chose a new candidate to vie for Marion's seat, according to a story from the Gazette.  

Shannon quit the race last month to join the Republic for the United States of America, an alternative government.

A few weeks back, former Marion resident that he was interested in campaigning for Iowa Senate 34.

The committee will also choose a new candidate for Iowa State state senate district 70 seat, which is comprised of Cedar Rapids and rural Linn County,

Republicans also will choose a candidate for House District 70, which includes Cedar Rapids and rural Linn County, to run against incumbent Democrat Todd Taylor.
