Election 2012: Marion Man Tells Louisiana to Take Gov. Bobby Jindal Back After Stepping into Iowa Same-Sex Marriage Debate

Dave Gregory, a retired hotel clerk from Marion, wrote to a Louisiana newspaper, advising them to "take back" Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal for his efforts to unseat a David Wiggins, an Iowa Supreme Court Justice.

Bobby Jindal caught flack from the Des Moines Register, earning a hypothetical "thistle" for his part in an Iowa bus tour seeking to oust an Iowa Supreme Court Justice, who's ruling helped legalize same-sex marriage in Iowa.

But, it seems the 41-year-old Governor from Louisiana irritated another vocal Iowan: Dave Gregory, a retired hotel clerk from Marion, whose letter to the Baton Rouge Advocate editor — titled "Take Your Governor Back — Please" — was recently published.

Your governor, Bobby Jindal, has traveled from town to town across Iowa crusading against gay marriage. Many suspect he’s already campaigning for the 2016 Iowa Presidential Caucuses.

We Iowans were recently subjected to an endless parade of Republican candidates during the 2012 Presidential Caucuses. We really don’t need Gov. Jindal’s wisdom and advice for the next four years.

Please call back your governor and find something for him to do. Aren’t there any homosexuals to persecute in Louisiana?

Jindal had taken part in the No Wiggins Tour, a bus tour aimed to build public support to oust Iowa Supreme Court Justice David Wiggins. He voted in an unanimous ruling that restricting same-sex marriage licenses was unconstitutional.

But it seems that Gregory struck a chord with one Louisiana man, who responded to the letter with a letter to the editor of his own, published Saturday.

David Neubig from Baton Rouge empathized with Gregory's frustration that Jindal had personally involved himself in Iowa's same-sex marriage debate.

The letter is titled "Iowa can keep Bobby Jindal."

In response to (Dave) Gregory of Marion, Iowa, (Oct. 1) who asked that we take our governor back home so he would stop crusading against gay marriage in Iowa: Bobby Jindal doesn’t have to get personally involved in persecuting homosexuals in Louisiana.

He has the Louisiana Family Forum and Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council to take care of that for him, so he won’t get his hands dirty at home.

Sorry, Iowa, but we don’t want him either.

But it's worth noting that Jindal is well supported in his own state. He earned 66 percent of the electorate in his 2011 re-election, enough for Fox News to call it a "landslide."
