Linn-Mar Family with Ties to Lion Athletic Program Honored After Tragic Passing of Todd Anderson

Todd Anderson, the father of several Linn-Mar graduates and an avid support of Linn-Mar Lion athletics, died recently while on a family vacation in Colorado. Linn-Mar decided to honor his memory and contributions with a plaque that will hang in the press box honoring him.

Todd Anderson Dedication

Todd should be best remembered as a man of integrity, values and great Christian faith. He was always providing encouragement to those fortunate enough to know him.

The Anderson family has graciously purchased the lettering on the front of the press box. Since Todd was such an influential person on the Linn-Mar Stadium project, the district created a very special plaque in Todd’s honor that will hang with pride inside the press box. This plaque was presented to Todd’s family at a recent Boys Soccer game.

Excelsior 7th Grade Students Remember Holocaust Victims By Participating in One Million Bones Project

A class at Linn-Mar's Excelsior Middle School added some extra depth to their learning about World War 2 and the Holocaust by participating in a project that works to raise awareness about genocides happening in present day.

As part of Mrs. Barry’s course work this year, her students participated in a project for an organization known as One Million Bones (One Million Bones - THE PROJECT). In an effort to raise awareness about the atrocities of genocide in today’s world, this project was created by artists working together to construct a memorial on the National Mall in Washington D.C. made up of one million “bones.”

Schools and organizations from around the globe have also helped in the creation of bones for the memorial. The organization currently has around 600,000 bones. Mrs. Barry’s students have created around 185 bones from clay, model magic, duct tape and paper mâché to be added to the memorial project.
