Expected New Linn Grove Principal Comes With Wealth of Experience

MARION, IA - At its regular Board meeting at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 10th, the Linn-Mar Board of Education is expected to take action on the recommendation of Chad Schumacher as the next principal at Linn Grove Elementary School, beginning July 1, 2013.  Pending confirmation, he will be replacing Shannon Bisgard who is joining Grant Wood AEA as a regional administrator. 

Schumacher, 38, has served Linn-Mar in various capacities since August of 2001 as teacher, elementary summer school principal, high school associate principal, and as District director of high school teaching and learning. Most recently, he was a member of the District’s Ten Year Facility Planning Committee and continues to serve on the Construction Advisory Council which oversees the District’s facility plans and the SILO/SAV expenditures.

“We are excited to have a leader with such a broad background as the new principal at Linn Grove,” stated Katie Mulholland, Superintendent.  “His twelve years in different positions in the District gives him a unique perspective on PK-12 student achievement.”

Schumacher has a B.A. in Psychology from Coe College and a M.S.E. in Education from Drake University.  A native of Cedar Rapids, he and his wife have two children who attend Linn-Mar.
