Linn-Mar Kicks Off its 2014-2015 Scheduling Process

Linn-Mar Community School District has begun the calendar development process for the 2014-15 calendar.

From the Linn-Mar School District

Linn-Mar Community School District has begun the calendar development process for the 2014-15 calendar. The Board of Education takes the responsibility of determining the academic calendar very seriously. The Board appoints a committee made up of staff members and administrators to create calendar options. This committee focuses on the job with 5 goals in mind. Members work to produce a calendar that:

a. is best for kids

b. follows the contract

e. is easy for all stakeholders to understand

These calendar options are then run through a feedback loop consisting of parents, community members, students, and district staff. This feedback is shared with the committee, discussed, and considered as the calendar is developed.
Linn-Mar has had an innovative calendar for many years. The consistent message over time in our calendar feedback is to develop a calendar based on academic learning units of time. Our start date, breaks, and end date are all determined by these academic learning units of time.
