Linn-Mar Names New Aquatic Center Manager

Linn-Mar's new aquatic center has a new manager.

From the Linn-Mar Community School District

As the Linn-Mar Community School District nears the completion date for its new Aquatic Center, Bobby Kelley is named as Aquatics Center Manager.

Mr. Kelley has an extensive background in all aspects of operating an aquatic center after serving for more than 20 years as both a swimming coach and Aquatics Director.

For the past sixteen years Mr. Kelley was employed by the Cedar Rapids Aquatics Association where he grew the program considerably – having started a swimming lessons program that now teaches to over 1,500 students each year and running a progression of swimmers from learn-to-swim levels through advanced competitive levels that include the Olympic Trials.

At Linn-Mar, Mr. Kelley will take on the responsibilities for opening the all-new, state-of-the-art Aquatic Center, developing and managing the district’s aquatic programs and overseeing the usage of the facility.

“Running an aquatics facility will be new for the school district and all programs will have to be developed,” says Kelley. “As the aquatics director, I am responsible for working with the district to develop programs that Inspire Learning, Unlock Potential and Empower Achievement.”

Management responsibilities include hiring and training Aquatic Center staff, overseeing all-aspects of facility maintenance and safety, and assuring the pool is in compliance with Federal and State regulations. Mr. Kelley will also plan and coordinate the hosting responsibilities for local, district and regional swim competitions at Linn-Mar.

Linn-Mar’s Superintendent, Katie Mulholland, Ed.D, said, “Throughout his career Bobby Kelley has developed great relationships with swim organizations at every level. This, combined with his extensive background, knowledge and passion for swimming, make him the ideal person for the job.” Mulholland adds, “We’re very pleased to welcome Mr. Kelley to our Linn-Mar community and we know he’ll do a great job!”

Linn-Mar’s Aquatic Center is expected to open in early November.
