The Linn-Mar Wrestling Dozen Set to Take on the Competition Today in Des Moines

How many Linn-Mar Lions will win at state individual duals? How will their team do today?

Well with the amount of wrestlers they will be sending, you have to like their odds.

Linn-Mar wrestlers won their district challenge this past Saturday at Marion High School, also qualifying a dozen wrestlers for the state competition starting this Wednesday with team duals.

...as the Lions had secured 12 state tournament berths and captured the team title at the Iowa High School Athletic Association Class 3A district tournament Saturday at Marion High School. The Lions tallied 261 points, 20 more than runner-up Cedar Rapids Prairie, which qualified eight to the state meet Feb. 14-16 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The Lions set a school record for state qualifiers, breaking the old mark of nine last year.

But the Lions won't be satisfied with just a record number of qualifiers. What they want is success at State.

For Team Duals, those begin today at the Wells Fargo Arena, 233 Center Street, in Des Moines (map of location shown above)

Linn-Mar is set to take on Waverly Shell Rock at 9:00 a.m. in the 3A Quarterfinals. Full wrestling bracket for the day is attached to this article.

The State Individual Tournament will begin the following day and go from Thursday through Saturday.
