Jeff, you fail to recognize that I pointed out the problem with that NY Times article. While theRead More Times got most of their facts right, they got the allegiances of the one rebel group incorrect, as the link from last year about that group showed. So Jeff, you're argument is based on only a partial set of facts, and you refuse to deal with the full set. BTW, I've provided backup of the al qaeda loyalty for every group named. Name a Syrian rebel group and I'll show the al qaeda connection. And Jeff, your link backs up my claims, as it talks about the Muslim Brotherhood run governments and societies supporting the rebels. So It doesn't appear to be me who needs to listen and broaden my outlook.

There's that boogieman again: "Muslim Brotherhood." Fear of that which you do notRead More understand is all you got, Langel. It's painfully obvious to anyone here. Now, excuse me...I have recipes to look over.
Rick Langel June 18, 2013 at 02:20 pm
Actually, Julie, I do understand them, which is why I point them out as problematic. For just oneRead More example, they support Sharia Law. Are you ok with that, particularly with the way that it treats women, minorities, and gays? Or is your support of basic human rights conditional?

Of course it's pertinent because it's part of his story. Why do you think he's on the lam? There areRead More thousands of low-level IT people in the DOD and DOE with top secret clearances. They are not constitutional lawyers and each one doesn't get to decide on their own if their work is unconstitutional. You and I may think it's unconstitutional, but the fact is, there is a secret court somewhere that says it IS constitutional. It was a bold move to bring that public, it was illegal, and he'll have to be pardoned by someone. The courts will have to decide it there is anything unconstitutional, not you or I or him.

Let's see, the judicial system in the People's Republic is not independent of party politics, but isRead More an extension of the ruling Communist Party. The rule of law we take for granted in the US does not exist in China. The suppression of the demonstrations in Tiananmen Square was achieved with a scale of violence we haven't seen in the US for decades. Hong Kong is part of the mainland, subject to People's Republic sovereignty. The People's Republic runs filters on the internet service its citizens receive which block sites considered subversive, something the US does not do. The US and the People's Republic are locked in a cyberwar as we speak. Any effort to compare the US and the People's Republic will fail upon even a cursory examination of the salient facts. Snowden is an ambiguous figure: he is embraced by leftists in the US who have denounced the surveillance state established by GW Bush and inherited by Barack Obama. The American rightists who embrace him, who supported GW Bush's Patriot Act and stoke fear of Muslims, are purely opportunists who look for any and every excuse to embarrass Obama.
Rick Langel June 17, 2013 at 12:21 pm
Jeff, this isn't about Obama. This started long before Obama, and is about government overreachRead More into our lives. Heck, if we are to believe Obama, he didn't know about these things anyway.

@Jen Thanks! I'll see if I can give one of these a try this weekend.

Woo!

Oh Jeff, like most arm chair quarterbacks, you think you know everything, but a close examinationRead More always reveals that you're just talking out of your backside.

Wow Bruce, it is great that you are so concerned about the citizens of Iowa. Now - how about workingRead More to get us some answers and accountability for issues such as Benghazi, IRS targeting of conservative groups, DOJ wiretapping of the media, NSA surveillance of American citizens and helping to stop this amnesty travesty that is taking place. Why not step up and demand some accountability? All I have seen you do since you announced your run for Senate is campaign - you are not representing the people of this great state - you are pandering to do whatever makes you look good in the moment. We don't need that - we need leaders who will help us get answers. You are not that person.
Greg Tagtow June 16, 2013 at 09:35 pm
Campaign is full steam ahead. What was that saying? Never let a good crisis go to waste? Bruce, IRead More don't seem to remember you sandbagging in 2008. Maybe I missed it those days I worked in Waterloo and the night I worked next to our Republican State Representative Walt Rogers. We spent hours on that bag line until the sand ran out at the end of Main St. in Cedar Falls.

Welcome back Bruce. With the campaign cycle over we wondered where you where. I appreciate gettingRead More the emails over the last few weeks since you announced you were running for the Senate to replace Harkin, but I have to wonder about your absence. No word from you on the lies from Secretary Clinton and Ambassedor Price. No word from you on the IRS persecution of conservatives, tea party groups, or faith based non-profits. No word from you on the chaos in Syria, or on the Presidents intentions to arm Al Queda. No comment on the $1.5 billion in military aid we gave to the Muslim Brotherhood, only to have them confirm "[Their] war is with America and Israel". No comments on the Immigration Scam. Glad to hear that your campaign website can help us recover from the flooding though!
