The Return of the Turkey Trot will take place from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Marion High School, with most of the proceeds benefiting Horizons, A Family Service Alliance.
The 19th annual Return of the Turkey Trot is a fun, family-friendly event that will help many in the community, according to the event’s organizers. Saturday’s Return of the Turkey Trot is an 8K run and 4K walk that will start and end at Marion High School starting at 9 a.m., said Pat Quinn, the race director and a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion, one of the sponsors of the race. Along with a pancake breakfast that runs from 7 to 11 a.m., also at Marion High School, the event is a fundraiser primarily for Cedar Rapids-based non-profit service agency Horizons, a Family Service Alliance, that attracted more than 1,800 participants last year, he said. “Part of the ministry (of the church) was to get it to an agency that …
