Trucker Dies After Semi Rolls Down Steep Embankment

The driver who lost his life has been identified by authorities as Loras John Pfab, 68, of Bernard.

The driver who lost his life has been identified by authorities as Loras John Pfab, 68, of Bernard.

Linn County Sheriff's are investigating vehicle fatality after a semi tanker veered off the roadway and rolled down a steep embankment. 

Authorities say the semi was southbound on Highway 13 and entering the ramp to eastbound Highway 30 when the driver lost control and overturned on the roadway. The truck slid through the south guard rail and rolled down a steep ditch before coming to a stop at the bottom.

Authorities haven't released the person's name, pending notification of relatives. 

The crash occurred at about 1:02 a.m. this morning, Aug. 3. 

Linn County Deputies, Mount Vernon Police, Lisbon/Mt. Vernon Ambulance, Mount Vernon and Ely Fire Departments responded to the accident. DOT enforcement officers, and the Marion Police accident investigation team assisted Linn County Sheriff’s accident investigation team in processing the scene.  The accident 
remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
