XYZ ... Examine Why Zippers Could Mean Dozens of Jobs for Marion

A Polish zipper manufacturer is looking at building a factory in Marion.

Marion City Manager Lon Pluckhahn writes in a June 14 memo that "ElPlast, a Polish company that manufactures food-grade plastic zippers, has tentatively committed to build a factory in Marion."

This could mean 70 jobs for Marion. The company would build a 25-30,000 square foot building with plans to double the size over five years. It would be the first facility to locate in the Marion Enterprise Center, according to the Pluckhahn memo.

However, it's not a done deal. Federal and state assistance and a local incentive package must be approved first, according to the memo.
